Until now, Tree of Life has supported food textile projects and provided herbs such as echinacea and mallow blue that did not meet the product standards. In food textiles, they have been used as dyes and reborn as eco bags and sneakers.
And this time, we produced a uniform apron using a non-standard product of Mallow Blue, a kind of herbal tea. It will be introduced at about 120 directly managed stores nationwide.
The mallow blue residue (non-standard product), which was previously unavoidably disposed of, can be used up to the end without waste, not only reducing food loss but also having a positive impact on staff awareness.
A limited number of eco bags made of the same fabric will also be sold from the end of January. Sales will end as soon as they are gone.

■ "FOOD TEXTILE "

Food Textile is a project to reuse food waste from the fashion industry. We buy non-standard ingredients such as irregular shapes and scraps of cut vegetables from food-related companies and farms, extract the ingredients contained in the plants, and dye them with dyes. In addition to developing original products, we have worked with various domestic fashion brands to promote production, sales, and commercialization, and have tackled the food loss problem from the apparel industry. Currently, we are building a sustainable system that connects industries by collaborating with more than 15 domestic food-related companies, agriculture, and farms.
