Press ReleaseProducts
Toyoshima & Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Hanshichi Toyoshima, Nagoya City Naka-ku Nishiki 2-15-15) develops the organic cotton brand "Ogavitz" from the children's clothing brand "Samansa Mos2 Lagom" developed by Can Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Takao Tachibana, 2-8 Saiwai-cho, Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture). Kids T-shirts designed with popular animals at Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia will be on sale at more than 70 stores and online shops nationwide from Thursday, March 21, 2019, and at Aqua Terrace Gift Shop in Zoorasia from Monday, April 1, 2019. http://orgabits.com/【Orgavitz Official Website】

"Orgavitz" is an organic cotton promotion project that began in 2006 with the desire to contribute to the global environment and producers "a little" by everyone. In order to make it easier for organic cotton to be used and popularized, about 100% brands are currently participating and producing a cumulative total of more than 6.84 million items based on the "reverse idea" of delivering 100% of products to 100 times the number of people without sticking to 100% of the amount used per garment. These activities have expanded to support farmers and NPOs in the country of origin, and the circle of social contribution activities that can be participated in on a daily basis through a single piece of clothing is also expanding. Cotton cultivation, which is the raw material for clothing, uses about 15% of the insecticides and 7% of pesticides used around the world*, and is associated with many environmental and social problems such as the massive use of pesticides, soil contamination, and health hazards of farmers. On the other hand, organic cotton is organically grown cotton on farmland that has not used pesticides or chemical fertilizers at all for more than three years. The widespread use of organic cotton is expected to reduce traditional cotton cultivation methods and improve problems in global production areas.

The design of the product to be released this time adopts an original illustration depicting the motif of eight popular animals in Zoorasia, represented by the okapi, to convey the importance of biodiversity to children all over the country. A part of the sales will be used for educational and dissemination activities at the zoo.
In addition, we use 10% organic cotton "Orgabits" that is friendly to the environment and producers.
In addition, limited to those who have purchased the target T-shirt, we will invite 10 families by lottery to the event “Zoorasia Backside Visit Special Tour” where the staff of Zoorasia will guide you to the backside of the park. The tour includes a special lecture by Koichi Murata, the director of the zoo, a feeding experience for Malayan tapirs, and a workshop where you can touch traditional Japanese cotton, so that not only children but also families can learn the importance of biodiversity and the environment. It is an event that can be done.

Orgabits and Samantha Mos2 Lagom will continue to promote efforts to contribute to social and environmental issues through clothing education activities.

■What is Orgabits?
Organic cotton diffusion project in which the largest number of apparel brands in Japan participates

About 15% of the world's pesticides and about 7% of the pesticides used* are used* in the cultivation of cotton, which is used as a raw material for clothing. Environmental and social issues are intertwined. On the other hand, organic cotton is cotton that has been organically grown on farmland that has not used pesticides or chemical fertilizers for more than three years. The widespread use of organic cotton is expected to reduce the use of conventional cotton cultivation methods and improve the problems in the world's growing regions.

"Orgabits" is an organic cotton spread project that started in 2006 with the idea that everyone should contribute to the global environment and producers little by little. In order to facilitate the use and spread of organic cotton, about 100 brands are currently participating, with a cumulative total of 684, based on the "reversal idea" of delivering 100% of the product to 100 times the number of people, regardless of the amount of 100% used in one garment. We produce over 10,000 items. The activity has expanded to support farmers in the country of origin and NPO corporations, and the circle of social contribution activities that can be participated in on a daily basis through one piece of clothing is also expanding.
