Toyoshima & Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Hanshichi Toyoshima, Nagoya City Naka-ku On Friday, August 27, 2021, ORGABITS, a project that aims to contribute to society through activities to popularize organic cotton, will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of more than 600,000 products and items in collaboration with apparel brands participating in this project to a total of 10 organizations, including NPOs and charitable organizations.




■ ORGABITS, a 16-year-old project to popularize organic cotton
"ORGABITS" is an organic cotton spread project that started in 2005 with the idea of contributing to the global environment and producers little by little.
By widely spreading the ratio of organic cotton used for one piece of clothing to 10% or more, regardless of 100%, it is a sustainable way to expand the ratio of organic cotton farmland, which is less than 1% in the world, to 10% or more. suggest a way of thinking.
Through fashion, we carry out various activities to expand the circle of “little good things” that make the world a better place.

・Efforts related to donations
We donate 1 yen for each product that uses Orgabits to PEACE BY PEACE COTTON, a general incorporated foundation that supports cotton farmers in India. In addition, we will donate 10 yen per item for collaboration products with brands that participate in the project to NPOs and charities that are active in various fields such as the environment, welfare, developing country support, and reconstruction in Japan and overseas. This time, about 6 million yen, which is part of the sales of about 600,000 project products sold from July 2020 to June 2021, will be donated to a total of 10 organizations.
The donation presentation, which started in 2012, has reached a total of 55,702,932 yen this year in its 10th year.

・What is organic cotton?
Organic cotton is cotton that has been organically grown on farmland that has not used pesticides or chemical substances that have an impact on the environment or living organisms for about three years or more according to the organic farming standards of each country. The use of organic cotton helps protect the environment, such as the people involved in the production and the land where cotton is grown. Considering that choosing organic cotton is the first step toward a sustainable society, TOYOSHIMA aims to spread organic cotton.

・Peace by Peace Cotton Project (PEACE BY PEACE COTTON)

Selling organic cotton products with a fund.
The collected donations are used for a project to spread organic cotton, such as support for organic cotton farmers in India and support for returning to school.


・ CliniClowns Project (Authorized NPO CliniClowns Association)

In this project, clinical clowns (clinics = hospitals, clowns = clowns) regularly visit hospitalized children's rooms and support their growth through play and conversation.


・Sakura Namiki Project (NPO Sakura Namiki Network)

In order to prevent the memory of the disaster from fading and to pass down the story across generations, this project involves planting cherry trees in the areas hit by the tsunami that occurred in the Tohoku region during the Great East Japan Earthquake.


・Borneo Green Corridor Project (Authorized NPO Borneo Conservation Trust Japan)

This is a project to create a future where animals and people can live together by connecting the tropical rainforests that are being divided due to the development of oil palm plantations in the Kinabatangan River basin in northern Borneo, leaving a rich ecosystem for future generations.


・Blue Ocean Project (NPO Japan Sea Turtle Association)

This project not only protects sea turtles, but also conserves marine animals and the coastal environment, and explores and realizes ways to preserve the lifestyles and culture of people who live near the coast, fishermen, and people who come in contact with sea turtles.


・DEAR ME Project (NPO DEAR ME)

Since 2015, children living in poor areas of the Philippines have held fashion shows as models. This is a project that aims to create a society where children around the world can dream equally and live proudly.


・For KUMAMOTO Project ("Kumamoto Castle Disaster Recovery Support Fund" Kumamoto City Kumamoto Castle General Office)

This is a project to support the restoration work of Kumamoto Castle, which was severely damaged in the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.


・Japan Heart (Certified NPO Japan Heart)

Efforts with Japan Heart, which conducts surgical activities in Southeast Asia and dispatches medical teams in the event of domestic disasters. It is a project to "deliver medical care to places where medical care cannot reach".


・Girls Project (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Plan International Japan)

This is a project that protects girls in developing countries from danger and supports activities that help them acquire the power to live.


・Atsumamori Kindergarten (Atsumamori Kindergarten Wakka)

We aim to create an environment and community in which both adults and children can take the lead in fostering mutual growth in warm ties between parents and children, friends, and the local community while being surrounded by the bounty of nature.
