TOYOSHIMA and Adastria collaborate on "inclusive design*" utilizing 3DCG design "VIRTUAL CLOTHING™"

Press ReleaseDXCollaboration
Toyoshima & Co., Ltd. aims to propose comfortable lifestyles (President & CEO: Hanshichi Toyoshima, Nagoya City Naka-ku In collaboration with Adastria Co., Ltd. (Chairman and President: Mitsuchio Fukuda, Shibuya-ku, Shibuya-ku), we will use the 3DCG design "VIRTUAL CLOTHING™" to produce clothes that incorporate diverse perspectives such as people with physical disabilities and people who have many opportunities to wear hospital clothes. Clothes made in this way will be available on the Adastria Group's official WEB store ". ST (dot esty)".

* Inclusive design... A design method that includes diverse people who have traditionally been excluded from the design process, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and foreigners. A design method that aims to provide decision-making information by understanding the diversity of OR users and contribute to attracting as many people as possible.

It is said that there are about 1 billion people in the world who have some kind of disability (*1). Some of them have physical disabilities that make it difficult for them to put on and take off clothes by themselves, or they have limited designs to choose from. Against this background, the collaboration between the two companies is an effort to produce and sell clothes that suit people with these issues while making use of cutting-edge 3DCG functions. We will provide opportunities for people who have trouble putting on and taking off clothes and sizes to be more like themselves and enjoy fashion from more options. In addition, approximately 1.7 million tons of textile waste is generated annually in Japan, including waste generated in the apparel manufacturing process (*2). Utilizing VIRTUAL CLOTHING™ for sample preparation reduces waste and contributes to sustainability.

With the promotion of DX in the fashion industry, TOYOSHIMA introduced 3D design software in July 2020 to centrally manage and accumulate pattern data. Through this, we aim to contribute to the promotion of DX in the entire fashion industry by reducing the cost burden of our business partners while working to improve the work efficiency of pattern makers and reduce the time, effort, cost, and sample products required in the production process of apparel products. I'm here.

■Collaboration inspired by the experience of Adastria employees

This collaboration is an internal business proposal project within Adastria Co., Ltd. In response to the employee's desire to create clothes that can be enjoyed by people with physical disabilities and bedridden people who are nursing their parents, It started when TOYOSHIMA proposed VIRTUAL CLOTHING™ as an effective way to achieve this. There are people who cannot move their bodies freely due to illness or old age and find it difficult to put on and take off clothes or measure their size. By making clothes using data, it is possible to provide a variety of fashion that suits each individual's body while reducing time, effort, cost, and sample products. Also, in normal clothes making, users purchase products whose size and design are determined by the brand, but this time, the initiative will be “making clothes starting from users who have problems”. This kind of production process is also a unique feature of clothing making that utilizes data.

About Adastria "Play fashion! for ALL"

"Play fashion! for ALL" is an inclusive fashion service proposed by Adastria Co., Ltd.'s in-house business proposal project "Project A". Various people live in society. That's why I want to incorporate the common sense that everyone is "not the same" into fashion more and more. It was born from the thoughts of such an employee. This collaboration was realized in order to realize that feeling by incorporating a sustainable perspective.

About TOYOSHIMA “VIRTUAL CLOTHING™”

By loading pattern data into 3D modeling, accumulating data, and increasing our track record, we are working to significantly shorten the work and improve the efficiency of the apparel production process. In addition, planning, sample checking, and fitting can be confirmed virtually, and from an early stage, it is possible to consider over-the-counter and EC sales. On the production side, we will reduce losses such as sample costs and delivery costs by improving finishing accuracy, and realize sustainability at each site. We use 3D software "BROWZWEAR", "CLO", and "APEX4" according to the characteristics of the product, and are working on proposing samples that are closer to the real thing.
