The Social Products Award is Japan's first commendation system that sheds light on excellent "social products" that lead to the realization of a sustainable society and evaluates both sociality and marketability. Started in 2012, this year marks the 7th time. The FOOD TEXTILE project won the [Consumer Judge's Award] for the free theme of the "Social Products Awards 2020", "Products and services that enable consumers to participate in the creation of a sustainable society".
■ About the FOOD TEXTILE project, which won the [Consumer Judge's Award]
The FOOD TEXTILE project is a sustainable project brand dyed from discarded vegetables and ingredients. We purchase non-standard ingredients, scraps of cut vegetables, dried coffee shavings, etc. from food-related companies and farms that have been thrown away in the past, extract the ingredients contained in the food, and dye them with dyes. . The FOOD TEXTILE project received the [Consumer Jury Award], which was decided by 20 consumers who were selected through open recruitment and who actually saw the product while conducting a review of sociality and marketability. Currently, we are working with more than 15 domestic food-related companies, agriculture, and farms, working to solve food loss from the fashion industry through a collaborative system that transcends the boundaries of the industry, and broadening the scope of social product development and deployment. Many apparel brands and consumers praised our dyeing technology, which combines beautiful, natural colors with resistance to color fading.

This time, as a product to introduce the FOOD TEXTILE project, I entered border wear dyed with coffee's dried out. This product is a collaboration between the FOOD TEXTILE project and GFGS, which produces original cut-and-sew ORDER BORDER (order border) with "complete build-to-order manufacturing".
