■What is the "Ogavitz Project" developed by Toyoshima & Co., Ltd.?
The organic cotton promotion project in which the largest number of apparel brands in the Japan participate. With the "reverse idea" of delivering 10% products to 100 times more people without sticking to 100% organic cotton, about 90 brands are currently participating and producing about 1 million items a year. These activities have expanded to support farmers and NPOs in the country of origin, and the circle is expanding as a social contribution activity where people can participate in fashionable fashion through a single piece of clothing.
Cotton produced by conventional cultivation methods contains about 15% of the insecticides and 7% of pesticides used around the world (*Source: Textile Exchange), and contains various problems such as soil contamination and environmental problems. Organic cotton, on the other hand, refers to organically grown cotton on farmland that has not used any pesticides or chemical fertilizers for more than three years. The growing demand for organic cotton is expected to reduce the use of conventional cotton cultivation methods and improve the above problems.

■About NPO Sakura Namiki Network
The Great East Japan Earthquake, which struck suddenly on March 11, 2011, became a catastrophe that left more than 20,000 people dead or missing. The Tohoku region has experienced many major disasters caused by tsunamis in the past, but unfortunately we were unable to make use of the lessons learned and caused unprecedented damage. Looking back on history, a major tsunami always comes to Sanriku once every 100 years. It is necessary to pass on the story of this massive tsunami from generation to generation, and to make efforts to ensure that the damage never fades away. In the hope that it will serve as a "evacuation" goal in the event of a major tsunami predicted in the future and play a role in protecting the residents, we decided to plant cherry blossoms at the destination of the tsunami to create a memorable row of cherry blossom trees. The "Sakura Tree Avenue Project" was launched by the strong desire of the people of Tohoku to plant cherry trees and the volunteers involved in flowers. We started planting trees in the spring of 2012, and to date we have planted about 2,700 cherry trees in Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate prefectures.
